TMI affiliated faculty members Zachariah Page and Michael Cullinan, along with Jonathan Sessler, recently founded Supra Elemental Recovery. Using an investment from Discovery to Impact's UT Seed Fund, Supra uses proprietary technology to recovery critical minerals from waste sources.

The technology will recover critical minerals like colbalt, lithium, gallium, and scandium from sources typically thrown out, like electronic waste. Using 3D-printed, porous cartridges within modular systems and the latest in fluid dynamics, the porous material acts as a filter, separating the important minerals at a molecular level. As Supra's website points out, "America is 100% import dependent on gallium and scandium, critical to semiconductors, energy, and more." Recovering these minerals would reduce the market's reliance on foreign supply.
